Supplement Your Income as a Crew Member with Anamosa Area Ambulance

Anamosa Area Ambulance, managed by Jones Regional Medical Center, is looking to add to its force at all levels-from emergency medical technician (EMT) to paramedic. The ambulance service provides the community with emergency response and is a vital part of Anamosa.

Generally, up to three people are scheduled during the day and night. Those interested who are already a certified EMT or paramedic would need to fill out an application at Jones Regional. Those who would like to become certified can enroll in a training program and when certified could then apply to be on the crew. Once on, they would work with the ambulance director on the times they could work.

Other requirements include current CPR certification and a current, violation free Iowa driver's license. Those within five minutes of the ambulance office can stay on call from home. Sleeping quarters are available at Jones Regional for those more than five minutes away.

Trainings can be done at one of the area community colleges. Once trained and on the crew, continuing education hours can be obtained at monthly crew meetings.

Anamosa Area Ambulance Service pays crew members a stipend for being on call. Then if a crew member gets called out for an emergency, an additional stipend is paid.

In addition to providing emergency response, Anamosa Area Ambulance provides coverage at local football games and other athletic events and during Grant Wood Arts Festival and Pumpkinfest.

For more information on the ambulance service, call the director at 319-462-6135 ext. 6309.

Sean Williams Elgin Lester, Lifeguard Air Ambulance Helicopter Pilot
Emergency Department
"The emergency room team worked together so well. They were prepared to take care of my immediate needs when I arrived. There wasn't a wasted motion in the ER. I was so impressed with the efficiency and the way the ER worked! As an air ambulance pilot, I've seen it all, and for a smaller hospital to have everything lined up and orchestrated so well, it was comforting to me as I was going through this. I was in a lot of pain, but they took care of me. I've always thought they did a great job here in Anamosa, but I really understand the true meaning of 'They saved my life' now."
